Log off Users

This help page covers:

Why Would I Want to Log off a User?

If a student user record is active when it shouldn't be, you can terminate the user's connection to the A+LS server. This situation can occur when a student turns off their computer while still connected to the A+LS system. It can also occur if a student is logged on the A+LS server from home using an Internet connection. If that Internet connection is interrupted it can leave the student logged on to your server even though the student is no longer connected to it.

Hint - Take great care with this command since you can log off students who may be legitimately on the system, perhaps even in the middle of a test.

Who Can I Log Off?

The Log off Users commands are control by the A+LS rights system. So, if you are logged on as a teacher user, then you may have the rights to see and log off only those student users that are:

Currently assigned to one of your classes

          Currently logged on

If you are logged on as a typical A+LS administrator then you will be able to see all schools and classes, and all of their logged on users. Only the highest level administrators are usually able to log off whole schools at one time.

Logging off All Users in a School

Depending on your rights to log off users, the screen may be divided by the navy blue bars into three sections. The top section is used to log off all of the users in a school. The right to log off whole schools at once is typically reserved for top level system administrator, so you probably won't see this option.

  1. Click on the top Select a School drop box and choose the appropriate school.

  2. Click on the top Log Off button to log off all of the selected users at the chosen school.

  3. Click on Exit to close the window.

Logging off All Users in a Class

Depending on your rights to log off users, the screen may be divided by the navy blue bars into three sections. You'll use the middle section to log off all of the users in a class. If you are a teacher you should see this option, but it will only display classes to which you are assigned.

  1. Click on the middle Select a School drop box and choose the appropriate school.

  2. Click on the middle section's Select a Class drop box and choose the class.

  3. Click on the middle Log Off button to log off all of the class's users.

  4. Click on Exit to close the window.

Logging off One or More Students in a Class

Depending on your rights to log off users, the screen may be divided by the navy blue bars into three sections. You'll use the bottom section to log off specific users in a class. Teachers as well as administrators often have rights to log off individual student users.

  1. Click on the bottom Select a School drop box and choose the appropriate school.

  2. Click on the bottom section's Select a Class drop box and choose the class.

  3. Scrolling if necessary, click on the appropriate user in the Select a User(s) text box.

  4. Click on the bottom Log Off button to log off the selected user.

  5. Click on Exit to close the window.
