Online Help, Guides, Manuals, and Web Links
_____________________________________________________________________
This help page covers:
The Online Help
The online help is like a travel guide, explaining in detail what you’ll see and can do at each page. There are explanations, hints, and detailed step-by-step instructions. It was designed to work closely with the Quick Reference Guides. There are also a number of lateral links between related help pages. So it is possible to read through a complete process, even if it spans multiple program screens and help pages.
The online help also includes a glossary covering all of the technical terms used in the program and this guide (click on the Word Help button found on each help page). Many technical terms found in the help are already hotlinked to the glossary, so a basic definition is usually just a single click away.
Quick Reference Guides
These guides are not intended for training but for use as handy quick references, the kind of item you might tuck next to your computer and grab when you have a quick question. Where the online help is detailed, like a travel guide, quick reference guides are more like road maps or driving instructions. They are designed to provide concise instructions.
Select one of the following Quick Reference Guides to open it (if you are on a modem it may take a few minutes):
• Teachers (1 MB PDF) - The daily basics including user management, assignments, assessments, and reports.
• Administrative (1.1 MB PDF) - Creating and maintaining users, class rosters, and reports.
• Getting Started (1 MB PDF) - Designed to introduce your students to logging onto the A+LS system, using the online help, and troubleshooting Internet connections. It also lists the program's Web browser requirements.
Adobe® Acrobat® will open in your browser, then the guide will open within it. It is strongly advised that you save the document on your hard drive before attempting to print it. To save the document after it is open, click on the little diskette button (top left on the Acrobat toolbar).
Curriculum Planning Manuals
The Curriculum Planning Manuals cover all A+LS K-12 modules and lessons for each subject (such as Mathematics or Science). While they can be printed out, as electronic documents they are also keyword searchable. This enables you to quickly search a single document for all of the lessons that contain a single concept (such as fractions, or Greek). Whether building a remedial assignment list for a student struggling with fractions or assembling a cross curricular project on ancient Athens, Curriculum Planning Manuals make it easy to integrate A+LS lessons with your classroom activities.
The most current Curriculum Planning Manuals (CPMs) are available at:
www.amered.com/docs/A+LS/manuals/
Once the web page is open, scroll to the last section "Curriculum Guides". Click on a CPM to open it (if you are on a modem it may take several minutes). Please note that the other documents on the web site pertain to the Java client and are not relevant to the Browser mode you are currently using.
Adobe Acrobat will open in your browser, then the guide will open within it. It is strongly advised that you save the document on your hard drive before attempting to print it. To save the document after it is open, click on the little diskette button (top left button on the Acrobat toolbar).
