This help page covers:

In addition to the information on this page, you will find Hints scattered throughout these help pages. Some offer advice on the best settings for specific options. Others provide time saving shortcuts. A WARNING will appear wherever there is a setting that could cause a problem if misconfigured or where special attention is required. As you can see, these help pages offer much more than just step-by-step information.

Printing Help Pages

  1. Point your cursor to the middle of the help page, then right click the mouse (Macintosh single button mice use [Control] click).

          A pop-up menu will open.

  2. Click on Print.

A Print dialog box will open. Exactly what it looks like and the available commands will depend on what operating system you are using (Windows 98, Me, 2000, XP, or Macintosh).

Typically no changes need to be made to the dialog box settings, but you should review them and make any necessary adjustments.

  3. Click on the Print button (or equivalent).

After a few moments the help page should print. A few stray background graphics will print at the top of the first page and the bottom of the last, but the text should be clear and ready to use.

Patience and the Internet

As with any Internet or Web delivered product, patience is a requirement. Users connecting through the public Internet, especially via a modem, are always subject to performance and reliability limitations of their Internet connection.

If you have a problem connecting to A+LS through the Internet, do not assume that it is an A+LS problem. It is far more likely that there is an Internet issue. Open your Internet browser and see if you can connect to one of the major search engines such as Google (www.google.com) or Yahoo (www.yahoo.com). If they don't work, then your Internet connection is the problem.

Sometimes when you are in the middle of an A+LS session you may find yourself looking at a blank white page. Typically it's just a minor Internet glitch that prevented the new page from loading. The next hint provides an easy remedy for this situation.

Backing out of an All White Page

If you move to a page that is all white, it is probably just a minor Internet glitch.

  1. Point your cursor to the middle of the white area, then right click the mouse (Macintosh single button mice use [Control] click).

          A pop-up menu will open.

  2. Select Back from the pop-up menu.

This will take you back to the previous page. Now you can redo what you were trying when you got the white page.

WARNING: Never choose Refresh or on Windows computers tap the [F5] key, they will log you off of the A+LS system.
