How Does a Math Question with a Calculator Work?
This type of problem works just like the normal fill-in question, but it also provides a calculator to help with the math. The Calculator button looks like a small box with rows of small buttons.
1. Select the Calculator button.
• The calculator will open in its own window. If it is in the way, you can drag it out of the way. Just point at the word "Calculator" on its title bar, hold down the mouse button, and drag it out of the way. On a tablet, press and hold as you drag the calculator. When you have the calculator out of the way, release the pressure.
2. Read the question, the instructions, and use the calculator to come up with the answer.
3. Point your mouse at the fill-in box and click or, on a tablet, tap the fill-in box.
• The flashing text cursor should appear in the fill-in box.
4. Type in your answer.
• The instructions will tell you if it is necessary to press the [Enter] key ([Return] on the Macintosh) before going on the the next page. The computer will read your answer before it moves to the next page.
5. Select the Go Forward button on the toolbar (see the toolbar pictured below).
• Test Question - You move on to the next question page. During the test you can return to any question to review or change your answer. Your answers will be graded after you have finished the test. You can see your test score in your Progress reports.
• Practice Problem - Practice questions are graded right away. If your answer was CORRECT then you will see the next page of the lesson. If your answer was INCORRECT you may return to the practice problem and have another chance to answer it.
Hint - Sometimes the computer says your answer was wrong, but you are sure it was right. You need to carefully reread the question and instructions. Also, think about what you were studying on the pages before the practice problem, then answer the problem again.
6. Close the calculator.
