This help page covers:

What Preferences Are Available for New Assignment Lists?

On this page there are three parameters to set that will affect NEW assignment lists. Please keep in mind that these setting only affect NEW assignment lists created after you change the settings.

Hint - To change the settings for an existing assignment list use the Assign, change or inactivate an existing assignment list option on the Set Up Assignments menu. Then watch for the List Settings button at the bottom of list-related screens.

Select which assignment lists... radio buttons - Of the four choices select the one that you deem most appropriate:

Show all accessible assignments - The student can see all available assignments and can move through them at will regardless of whether or not they have been completed.

Show just those assignments the student has not yet mastered - The student can access all assignments that have unfinished activities (Study, Practice, Mastery, and/or Essay).

Show all assignments, including those the student cannot access - The student sees all assignments, even those that aren't currently accessible (due to prerequisites, etc.) and can move though all available assignments at will.

Show only the current assignment - Only the lesson the student is currently working on or set to current by the teacher is available.

Forcing the order of lessons radio buttons - Self motivated students often do best when given a degree of control over how they pursue their lessons. Other students, lacking discipline or good study habits, may find greater success when guided through assignments in a predetermined order. These two options give you the ability to choose the best method for your students.

Students must take... in order - The order you have sorted the lessons in the assignment list is the order that students must complete them.

Students can take... in any order - The students will see the lessons in the order you sorted them into but can pursue them in any order they wish.

Availability of lessons after completion radio buttons - You can decide if you want your students to be able to review past lessons or concentrate only on current ones.

Students cannot access an assignment list after it is completed - Just as it sounds, choosing this setting limits students to current assignments that have not been completed.

Students can access an assignment list after it is completed - This setting makes it possible for students to review previous completed lessons.

Step-by-Step - Changing Information Using Radio Buttons

Radio buttons are used to answer either/or questions with two or more options. Only one option can be enabled at any given time.

  1. Carefully read the question or setting's statement, then carefully consider each of the options (each with its own radio button).

  2. Click on the radio button that best represents your choice.

  3. Consider the next setting's question or statement, then use the mouse to select the appropriate radio button setting.

  4. When you have finished setting radio buttons you can either:

Click on the Finished button to retain your changes and return to the previous menu.

            OR

Click on the Undo My Changes button, which returns the settings to the state they were in when you first opened this page.

            OR

Click on the Cancel button to return to the previous menu without saving your changes.
