Overview of Assigning Lessons to Multiple Students' Lists

There are just two major steps necessary to assign lessons to multiple student lists. On the first page (this one) you pick the lessons. On the second and final page you select the students to receive the lessons and copy them.

The two steps for assigning lessons to multiple students are:

Step 1 - Selecting the Lessons

Step 2 - Copying the Lessons to the Students

Hint - You can view the content of all lessons as a student would by using the Preview Lessons command on the toolbar.

Step 1 - Selecting the Lesson

The task on this page is to select the lessons that you want to copy to students. First you have to decide whether to add lessons by subject or by standard.

  1. Either, leave the Choose the source of lessons... radio buttons set to Select lesson by subject and proceed to Selecting the Lessons by Subject below.

            OR

Click on the Select lessons by standard radio button, the page will be refreshed with standard related options, and you should proceed to Selecting the Lessons by Standard below.

Selecting the Lessons by Subject

This procedure assumes that the Choose the source of lessons to assign is set to Select lessons by subject.

  1. Click on the Select a subject drop box, opening it.

The subjects that appear will directly reflect the A+LS subject titles that your school has purchased, plus any newly authored modules you or your fellow teachers have created.

  2. Using the scroll bar if necessary, review the list of subjects, then click on one to select it.

After some of your selections the screen will flicker as the page automatically updates itself. This is normal. Note that the list of lessons in the lower left text box was updated with lessons from the subject module you selected.

  3. Click on the Select a lesson type drop box, then select the source of the lessons.

  4. Using the scroll bar if necessary, click on a lesson in the left text box.

Did you notice that when you clicked on the lesson the Add button between the two text boxes lit up?

  5. Click on the Add button to add the highlighted lesson to the list of assignments to be copied.

The lesson was added to the right text box, which displays the lessons currently in the assignment list.

Please note that while you can use the Select all lessons in this list checkbox to add all of a subject module's lessons to an assignment list it is not recommended. The assignment list would have several dozen lessons, overwhelming all but the most stout hearted students.

Hint - You can select multiple lessons:

After selecting the first lesson, hold down the [Ctrl] key and click on additional lessons (Macintosh users should hold down the [Apple] key). Notice how they also become highlighted.

You can also select a range of lessons (a contiguous group). Select the first one that appears in the list (starting at the top). Hold down the [Shift] key, then select the bottom-most lesson of the group. The entire group should now appear highlighted and ready to Add.

  6. Select additional lessons from the left text box and use the Add button to add them to the assignment list (as displayed in the right text box).

If you are building a cross curricular assignment list then you will need lessons from other subject areas. It's easy to add them on this screen. All you have to do is return to the first step on this page to add additional lessons from another subject module. An assignment list can be made up of as many lessons from as many modules as you would like.

  7. Optional - If additional lessons are needed from other subject modules, then return to the first step and Add them.

  8. When you have assembled all of the lessons you want to copy, then click on the Continue button at the bottom of the page.

            OR

Click on the Cancel button to return to the previous menu without saving your changes.

If you chose Continue, then the next page, Step 2 - Copying the Lists to the Other Students will open.

Selecting the Lessons by Standard

This procedure assumes that the Choose the source of lessons to assign is set to Select lessons by standard.

  1. Click on the Select a standard set drop box, opening it.

The standards that appear will directly reflect the A+LS standards that your school has purchased. This is also true of the other options found on the top half of this page. The options you have are dependent on your standard and a few subsets may not have corresponding A+LS lessons.

  2. Using the scroll bar if necessary, review the list of standards, then click on one to select it.

After some of your selections the screen will flicker as the page automatically updates itself. This is normal. Note that the various drop boxes and the list of lessons were updated to match the standard you selected.

  3. Click on the Select a curriculum area drop box, then scrolling if necessary, select the appropriate curriculum area.

  4. Using the Select a standard subset drop box make your next selection.

  5. Choose the Select a curriculum level drop box, and pick the correct level.

  6. Select the Select a available standard drop box, and make your choice.

  7. Click on the Select a lesson type drop box, then select the source of the lessons.

  8. Using the scroll bar if necessary, click on a lesson in the left text box.

Did you notice that when you clicked on the lesson the Add button between the two text boxes lit up?
