Overview of the Classes Trash Can

When a class is inactivated it is placed in the Trash Can. While in the Trash Can the class roster is preserved but the class is frozen, so the students and teachers won't see the class in their lists.

Once in the Trash Can a class can be:

Restored - Reinstate the class to full functionality. Users can again access the class with all of their previous assignments intact.

Deleted - When a class is deleted all rosters and class assignment lists are permanently erased.

How Do I Sort the List of Classes?

When there are a number of inactive class records in the list it becomes hard to find the record(s) that you want to work with. Fortunately it is simple to sort the list by School, Class, or Grade. You can even choose how to sort them: A to Z order or the reverse (Z to A).

  1. Locate the three sort buttons, found at the top of each column of the classes list: School, Class, and Grade.

These three buttons aren't just descriptive headers, they are active buttons that can sort the list by their category. In other words, if you click on Class, the page will refresh and the list will reappear in Class order, A to Z.

  2. Click on the Class button.

Notice that the list reordered itself by Class. Also note the little pyramid on the button next to the word "Class". It is narrow at the top and thick at the bottom showing you that the list is sorted normally, A to Z.

  3. Click on the Class button again.

The classes list reappears in reverse order, and the little pyramid is upside down indicating the reverse sort (Z to A).

  4. Either, practice sorting the list using the other category buttons (School or Grade).

            OR

Sort the list appropriately for your needs and proceed to restore and/or delete classes.

How Do I Restore Classes?

Restoring a class record reactivates it, making the class and its assignment lists available to students and teachers.

  1. Sort the list using the category buttons.

  2. Locate the first class to be restored, using the scroll bar if necessary.

You now need to mark the class for restoration. This is done with a checkmark.

  3. Click on the checkbox to the right of the class name.

Notice how a little checkmark appeared in the box? All of the classes to be restored will need to be marked like this.

  4. Using the scroll bar, locate any other classes to be restored, and place a checkmark next to them.

  5. Either, with all of the desired class records marked, click on the Restore Selected Class(es) button at the bottom of the page, then the class will be restored and the list of inactivated classes will be updated.

            OR

Click on the Finished button to return to the Set Up Classes menu.

How Do I Delete Classes?

Take great care because deleting a class record permanently removes it. All of the class assignment lists will also be erased (but student data including progress reports will remain intact).

  1. Sort the list using the category buttons.

  2. Locate the first class to be deleted, using the scroll bar if necessary.

You now need to mark the class for deletion. This is done with a checkmark.

  3. Click on the checkbox to the right of the class name.

Notice how a little checkmark appeared in the box? All of the classes to be deleted will need to be marked like this.

  4. Using the scroll bar, locate any other classes to be deleted, and place a checkmark next to them.

  5. Either, with all of the desired class records marked, click on the Delete Selected Class(es) button at the bottom of the page, then you will be asked to confirm your decision.

            OR

Click on the Finished button to return to the Set Up Classes menu.
